The highest-ranked Indian Test batsman in the world captain Virat Kohli will receive the prestigious Polly Umrigar Award. The award is given to India’s International Cricketer of the Year at the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) Annual Awards.

This will be held in Bengaluru on 8th March.

Another good news is Ravichandran Ashwin is also nominated for the Dilip Sardesai Award. Currently, Ashwin is the number one ranked Test bowler.

This is not the first time Kohli will receive the award. In 2011-12 and 2014-15 he won it and he becomes the first to be honoured on three occasions.

Ashwin will also get the Dilip Sardesai Award for the second time. He was first awarded in 2011 for his outstanding performance with the ball against the West Indies.

The BCCI Annual Awards committee consisting of Ramachandra Guha, N Ram and Diana Edulji nominated Padmakar Shivalkar and Rajinder Goel for the Col. CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award.

Jalaj Saxena of Madhya Pradesh will receive the Lala Amarnath Award for the best all-rounder in Ranji Trophy for the year 2015-16. Shreyas Iyer of Mumbai will be awarded Madhavrao Scindra Award for being the highest scorer in last season’s Ranji Trophy.

Mithali Raj will be awarded Jagmohan Dalmiya Award for the best women cricketer (senior) in the 2015-16 season. Nitin Menon has been nominated for the best umpire in domestic cricket for the last season.

Award for MCA

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has been selected as the best state association of the season (2015-16) for winning the CK Nayudu Trophy, the Ranji Trophy and also the women’s plate league group. They were runners-up in Vijay Merchant Trophy, Cooch Behar Trophy and women’s one-day elite group.
