A police official stated, “An encounter broke out between security forces and militants at Wangam in Shopian after the security forces launched a search operation following specific intelligence inputs.”

The militant identified as Sadam Hussain Mir and lived in Chatripora Shopian. Police recovered 119 AK 47 rounds, five AK 47 magazines, one assault rifle and one hand grenade.

The two injured soldiers were immediately moved and their conditions are stable now.
