This wonderful restaurant is more than sixteen feet below sea level and located at the Conrad Maldives, Rangali Island. The restaurant was opened in 2005 and the seating capacity is 14 people. It has a menu which consisting of fresh seafood, beef rib eye, veal and other gourmet dishes. The transparent acrylic roof of the restaurant offers a 270o panoramic view of the sea creatures.
Modern Toilet, Taiwan
This one is really bizarre. The restaurant is designed with toilet theme. The chairs are created just like toilets. The tables look like bathtubs. Your meals are served in toilet bowl-shaped crockeries. Now, the Modern Toilet is a bigger chain across Asia and it has plans for further extension.
Cat Café Nekorobi, Tokyo
If you are a cat lover then this café is surely for you. This unusual café is located in the district of Ikebukuro. Here you can spend time with the feline friends. The cat friends are there to give you company. The staffs watch the guests if they treat the cats carefully and provide complimentary bags of dried cat food. If you visit the café in the evening, you can witness the dinnertime ritual where the felines feast on cat food in glass food bowls which arranged in a circle around a floor lamp.
Redwoods Treehouse, New Zealand
The Treehouse café is located over 32 feet above the ground in a Redwood tree near Auckland. The patrons can reach the spot via an elevated treetop walkway built of redwood milled on site. Here you can experience the treehouse life. But the venue is used completely for private parties and the capacity is 30.
Dinner in the Sky, Canada
If you get an opportunity to dine in high altitude! Imagine how exciting it would be, the delicious food and the panoramic view of a place in a height of 160 feet up in the air. The idea is originated in Belgium. It involves a crane hoisting guests who are strapped into “dining chairs” and of course there is a dining table. The table seats up to 22 people max. It served meals like sashimi rolls, ham salad and much more.
Cannibalistic Restaurant, Japan
This one is just beyond any imagination. The food served here is called Nyotaimori means “female body plates”. It serves sushi and sashimi inside a woman’s body. The body is made from food and it places on a table which looks like a surgery table. The diners can eat any part of the body. The disturbing thing is when someone cuts the body it will look like bleeding just like the human body.
The concept was first introduced in 2006 in Canada. Then in 2009, the second restaurant of its kind was opened in Toronto. The unique part of this restaurant is that the place is totally dark that’s mean you have to dine in dark. The philosophy of O. Noir is a customer’s enjoyment is increased when his sight is eliminated as the other senses become sensitive. Cellphones, flashlights and glowing watches are prohibited here. The guests place their order in a lit bar and then they are led by a server into an unlit dining room. Next, the two-hour seated dinner service begins where the servers explaining where everything is placed on the table.
Cabbages and Condoms, Thailand
Cabbage and Condoms is one of the most unique restaurants in Bangkok. The theory to establish this restaurant is to promote better understanding and acceptance of family planning. When you enter the restaurant you spot condoms almost in everywhere. The lights hanging from the trees, the flowers in the bathroom, the decorations all covered in condoms. Also after paying the bill, you are invited to take a free condom in place of an after dinner mint.
Hospital themed restaurant, Taipei
The restaurant is called the D.S. Music Restaurant. To see the name you don’t even understand what you would experience inside. When you enter the restaurant the staffs dressed in nurse uniforms and they push you to your table in a wheelchair. Your drinks are served from an IV-like contraption hanging from a pole. The dining table is like a metal hospital bed. The restaurant is designed with as many hospital themed items as possible. The staffs or the nurses ask you trivia questions, if you answer them correctly then you are rewarded with shots of a tasty drink spurted in your mouth with a syringe.
Ninja Restaurant, New York
In New York’s Ninja restaurant the customers are greeted by the black dressed ‘Ninjas’ through a secret path. The ‘Ninjas’ bring you to a table housed within a dungeon-like chamber. The Ninja dressed waiters also perform magic tricks while serving the meal.
