This Egyptian woman, named, Iman Ahmad Abdulati, is believed to be the fattest woman alive of the world. This 36 year old lady from Alexandria in northern Egypt is now 500 kg.
This woman is unable to move or even roll over on her bed and she hasn’t moved out of her house since the past 25 years because of her size.
They are a family of 3, Iman, her sister and their mother, their father died when they were young. She is entirely dependent on her mother and sister Chaymaa Abdulati performing her everyday task like changing clothes, eating and relieving herself. The family said a lot of time is spent trying to care for Iman, including feeding and cleaning and providing toilet help, as she can no longer walk.
She said inquiries at local hospitals by her family went unanswered, but after her sister went public with the problem, they finally offered help.
The family said that she ended up at home from the age of 11, after suffering what they believe was a stroke, leaving her bedridden.
Iman was diagnosed with elephantiasis soon after she was born. Her birth weight was a staggering 5 kilograms. Elephantiasis is a parasitic infection that causes extreme swelling in a person’s limbs and arms. Doctors have also said that due to a “disruption of glands”, her body stores and retains more water than it should.
Because of her heavy weight even as a baby, Iman learned to get around using her hands. When she was 11 years old she became too heavy and couldn’t support standing her weight and thus resorted to crawling around the house.
Now immensely fearing death, her family has posted a desperate appeal online to the Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi seeking medical assistance.
