Police arrested a teacher of the school and her aide. Today, on Tuesday they are going to produced to the court.
One and a half month ago, the school management visited the Watgunge police station asking help of the cops as the representative of the school had received a forged appointment letter of the school. It was delivered to a person, who was guaranteed a Group-D job at the school. The management was confused and surprised when the Kudghat resident, the victim, Manik Pal reached the school. The appointment letter was signed by the school secretory.
A case has been started by the police, based on the school principals’ complain. While querying Pal, they found that he got the from a resident of Parnashree’s Bisalakshitala road, Jayanti Barua (51). Barua led them to Suchismita Ganguly, a 47 year old Gariahat resident and the Bengali teacher of the school. On Monday, the two, Barua and Ganguly were arrested.
After coming from Kalimgpong, Ganguly joined the school in 2013. Principal of the school said, “We did not know much about her apart from what we came to know during the interview process. We did not notice anything suspicious during the period.”
Suchismita got acquainted with Jayanti to start the job racket. Barua get in touch with the job-seekers and assure them recruitment to the school in exchange of a hefty sum.
Joint CP (crime) Vishal Garg said, “She took Rs 85,500 from Pal to get him the Group-D staff job at the school. Pal was told that it was a donation amount. When he reached the school, he found the appointment letter was fake.”
The principal said, “We were getting complaints from a few victims who had been tricked for past several months. We could not zero in on the culprit as there were no documentary evidence. We got the documents from Pal first and informed the police.”
According to the police, from the Internet, Barua took out the school’s letterhead format and took a printout. She took Ganguly’s help of getting the specimen copy of the school principal and secretory signature.
A police official said, “She made the forged document while Suchismita helped her to get the necessary official details.”
The police also found fake id cards, forged letterheads of the school and fake appointment letter during the search.
The principal said that they didn’t know since when the duo began the racket but that could have been a year.
