A Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was killed on Thursday in an encounter with police and security forces in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. During the gunbattle, a policeman was also injured.
The incident happened in the wee hours of Thursday. After they got specific intelligence input about the presence of terrorists in Parray Mohalla in the Hajin area of Bandipora the security forces launched a search operation.
According to the ANI report, the security forces and state police in a joint operation managed to neutralise the LeT commander Abu Musa. This took place days after three terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag district.
A police officer said during the search operation, the terrorists opened fire on the forces. In retaliation, the security forces also attacked the militants in which a terrorist was killed.
The official told in the gunfight a Special Operation Group (SOG) soldier was also injured. He added the soldier was referred to a hospital. The official maintained some offenders pelted stones on the security forces near the encounter site.
Police said that the militants were all local and they have been identified as Maqsood Shah alias Masoom, a resident of Bewoora area of Srigufwara, Abid Sheikh, a resident of Satkapora area of Srigufwara and Adil Reshi, a resident of Reshi Mohalla area of Bijbehara.
This is the second incident in three days in the Parray Mohalla area. Earlier, on January 10 security forces killed a terrorist in the area.
