Pakistani troops on Tuesday fired on the Indian army posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch sector of the Jammu and Kashmir. They violated the province for the second time in less than a week.
According to a defence spokesman, “The Pakistan Army troops resorted to unprovoked and indiscriminate firing on Indian Army posts along LoC in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir since midnight.”
The Pakistani Army attacked the army posts with small arms, mortars and automatic weapons in the Poonch sector.
The spokesperson further said that the Indian troops responding appropriately and so far no casualties and damages reported. The firing was still going on.
Police stated that in Shapur Kandi area along with Poonch LoC the firing is continuing intermittently.
Reports said that the Pakistani army fired on at least a dozen Indian posts in LoC in Poonch region.
Earlier this month on 2nd September, the Pakistani troops violated ceasefire on Army posts along LoC in Akhnoor sector in Jammu.
This year on August 14, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire by firing and they targeted Indian posts on the LoC in Poonch sector in two different sectors. A 50 year old woman was injured due to the firing.
According to the official, last year almost 16 people were killed and 71 injured in 405 incidents of Pakistan’s cross-border firing.
Around 8000 people were affected and had to be shifted to safer locations because of the ceasefire.
