The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started their investigation on Narsingh Yadav’s doping case. Brij Bhusan Saran Singh, the president of World Federation of India met with the Prime Minister and requested him to forward the case to CBI.
Brij Bhusan told PTI that PMO (Prime Minister Office) has referred the case to Central Bureau for further probe and the proceedings have already started into the doping scandal.
Narsingh said, “I want to prove my innocence,I want to see the real culprits caught and punished. Then I can approach CAS to get the four-year ban overturned. I’m hopeful of getting a favourable result because I’m hundred per cent sure that I’ve done nothing wrong.”
The Court of Arbitration (CAS) awarded 4 years ban to Narsingh which prevented him to take part in Rio Olympics.
In its final order CAS said if the Indian investigation agency can prove that the doping was a sabotage and his sample was tampered with, then the wrestler can appeal the ban and the Supreme Court of Switzerland reviewed the CAS decision.
VN Prasood, the WFI secretary said an athlete who feel was sabotaged can request for deep inquiry. “This is the first time CBI is probing a doping case. For Narsingh, this will give him a chance to prove his innocence.”
Narsingh’s Olympic journey was a path of thorn. Earlier, Sushil Kumar dragged Narsingh to the Delhi High Court but the judgment was with the favour of the latter. Then another trouble made his journey more impossible when the wrestler was tested positive in dope test which was taken on June 25 and July 5. CAS then gave him 4 years ban which ended his dream to Rio Olympics.
