
Love travelling? Want to see every place in the world? But there are some places on our planet which are completely forbidden. You cannot step into the land of these restricted lands. Some of these places are too dangerous or protected by the authorities. But whatever the reason these places have no connection with the rest of the world. You can just read the stories about those places but physically you cannot go there.
Snake Island, Brazil
This island is thought to be one of the dangerous places in the world because of its residents. The island is full of snakes. So if you want to visit the island, you put yourself at a great risk.
This is a 43-acre island which located of the Brazilian coastline. The place is a home of the most poisonous species of snakes, the Golden Lancehead Viper, its venom can eat through flesh. There are more than 4,000 of them. Because of its high risk, the Brazilian government has prohibited any visitors to go to the place except every few years the government gives permission to some scientists to examine the snakes.
Poveglia, Italy
Poveglia Island is located between Venice and Lido within the Venetian Lagoon in northern Italy. This island is considered as one of the most haunted places on the earth. Â History says the island had a fort which was used as a shipping check point been a quarantine station for the Bubonic Plague. In 1922, the buildings were converted into an asylum. In 1968, the asylum was closed down and the island was abandoned. There have been many stories about the island. The ghosts of plague victims, war victims and the ghost of a murderous asylum doctor roaming around the island.
In 2014, the Italian government auctioned a 99-year lease of the island in a hope that the buyer would redevelop the hospital.
Area 51, Nevada
There are many rumours around this place. This infamous place is located in the Nevada desert. The military airfield is said to be involved in aircraft and weaponry. But the American government never admitted its existence, despite it is the countryâs one of the worst kept secret. Conspiracy theorists say here the US government examines and stores a crashed alien space craft, a supposed alien crash landing in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. Access to Area 51 is strictly prohibited, except to intelligence and military personnel with special clearance.
North Sentinel Island, Andaman
This island is a place for a small indigenous people known as the Sentinelese. The tribe refused contacts with all other peoples. The tribe is among the last on earth to remain virtually untouched by modern civilisation. In 2006, two fishermen were killed when their boat accidentally strayed too close to the island. So you can clearly understand now why this place is completely forbidden for visitors.
 Lascaux Caves, France
These caves are a place for one of the famous examples of Paleolithic cave paintings. The paintings are said to be over 17,000 years old. The images mostly depict large animals which lived in the ancient time. The caves are also listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. But since 2008, the caves have been completely closed off due to the erosion caused by particles in the air. Only some of the scientists are allowed to enter just a few days a month to study the paintings.
The French government built Lascaux II where people can see a copy of the original paintings.
Moscow Metro-2, Russia
Itâs still a secret of the existence of the Metro-2. It is a secret underground tube system which runs parallel to the public metro lines. This built during the rule of Stalin. But the train system has never been officially acknowledged. Still the Russian government neither deny nor confirm the existence of the Metro-2.
The story said Joseph Stalin built Metro-2 for the purpose of facilitating the travel of Russian secret services and heads of state. Recent destruction under the alleged spot revealed a tunnel that could be a part of a larger system.
Vatican Secret Archives, Vatican City, Italy
It is said that Vatican in Rome is full of secrets. The Vatican Secret Archives is beyond any normal peopleâs reach. It contains some of the most ancient books in the world along with the history of the acts of the Holy See, state papers, historic documents, papal account books and other official documents which date back to the eighth century. The archives are the official property of the current pope and it has been estimated to span over 52 miles of shelving with more than 35,000 items. Only small stuff is allowed to take care of the archives.
RAF Menwith, North Yorkshire
It is a Royal Air Force Station which provides communications and intelligence support services to the United Kingdom and the United States. The area contains an extensive satellite ground station and it is a communications intercept and missile warning site. It has been described as the largest electronic monitoring station in the world. The place is completely forbidden; whatâs going on behind the walls itâs beyond any imagination.
Ise Grand Shrine, Japan
The holiest shrine in Japan located in the town of Uji-tachi in the Mie Prefecture. It is a Shinto shrine complex dedicated to the goddess Amaterasu-omikami. It consists of two main shrines and about 125 secondary shrines. One of the main shrines is believed to house the âSacred Mirrorâ. The location of the shrine is date back to the third century. The shrine is closed to all visitors except the high priestess or priest who belongs to the Japanese Imperial family.
Svalbard Global Seed Vault, Norway
The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is a seed bank which located on Spitsbergen, built 400 feet into a mountainside. It was opened in 2008, February and it now stores around 8,40,000 samples of 4000 different species of seeds from all over the word. The purpose of building the seed vault is to store a multitude of seeds in the case of major global disaster destroys most of the earthâs crops. This is protected by highly advanced security systems and not a single person has all the codes you need to get inside. The system is fully automated and is remotely monitored.
The seeds will be kept safe for hundreds of years and the study was done on the feasibility of the vault suggests the seeds might be preserved for thousands of years.
Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion, Ethiopia
This important church in Ethiopia claims it housed the original Ark of Covenant, a very important biblical document. It contained Godâs Ten Commandments given to Moses on Mount Sinai. Nobody is allowed to see the Ark, not even the Ethiopian president. But reports say there is a single monk who watches it and never leaves the chapel grounds. Unsurprisingly, nobody is allowed to enter the church.
Surtsey, Iceland
It is a volcanic island that was formed by a series of volcanic eruptions. The eruptions started in 1963 and ended in 1967. Except for some scientists, no one is allowed to the island so that the natural ecological progression can take place without any outside interference. For years, scientists are watching the evolution of the island, from a barren volcanic land to a place full of plant and animal life.
