
On Tuesday morning Terrorists attacked on an army artillery unit in Nagrota in Jammu and Kashmir. 2 soldiers were killed and another 2 injured in the heavy open firing. At least 3 militants are holed up inside the base.
A fierce gun battle is still on between terrorists and the army on Srinagar-Jammu Highway near Nagrota, around 20 kilometers from Jammu city.
The terrorists targeted a military location near White night Corps in Nagrota. They appeared in the area between 5.30 am to 6 am. First they threw a grenade on the guard stationed at the main gate, thereafter they started firing indiscriminately.
Officer said, “A group of heavily armed militants, believed to be four-to-five in number, attacked the 166 field regiment camp in Nagrota area of Jammu today morning.”
A major and a jawan were killed. Around 2-3 terrorists are believed to be hiding in the officers’ mess.
As per latest report, this is a suicide attack and militants have come from the Srinagar side of the National Highway.
Nagrota is the headquarters of the army’s 16 Corps, a massive military formation that defends the borders and fights terrorists in the greater Jammu region.
In view of the attack, the Jammu-Srinagar Natiuonal Highway has been closed for traffic in the area. The district administration has closed all the schools in Nagorta tehsil as a precautionary measure.
Simrandeep Singh, deputy commissioner, Jammu said, “We have ordered closure of all schools and education institutions in Nagrota tehsil in view of the terror attack.”

In a separate incident, BSF has killed 2 terrorists after it intercepted a group of terrorists attempting to cross over at the International Border at Ramgarh in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba sector. One BSF jawan, Sanjay Kumar was injured in the gun battle. Firing is still on between soldiers and terrorists.
The BSF spotted suspicions movements using thermal imagers near Chamliyal Border outpost in the intervening night of November 28 and 29.
The area was immediately cordoned off and when challenged, a BSF patrol was fired upon by miscreants holed up in a tube well pumphouse in the fields. The area falls very close to the International Border (IB).
According to reports, the terrorists crossed the IB in Ramgarh sector of Jammu and took shelter in a village close to the border.

In September, Several Army jawans were killed when terrorists from Pakistan attacked an army base in Uri. A few days later, the army carried out surgical strikes across the Line of Control targeting staging areas for terrorists planning to attack Indian cities.
