
4 persons including 3 pilgrims and a 5 year old boy were killed and nearly another 9 were injured in a landslide due to heavy rain en route to the cave temple of Mata Vaishno Devi in Reasi, Jammu.
The landslide occurred on Banganga-Ardhkuwari road in Friday midnight when the debris fell on the shelter where the pilgrims were taking rest. Three pilgrims including the boy died on the spot, and later the other person died in hospital.
The victims who were died immediately are Shashidhar Kumar (29) of Banglore, Bindu Sahni (30) and her son Vishal (5) from Chhattisgarh, and the person who died in hospital was a ponywala, Sadik (32).
Seven people of the injured were given first aid and the other two were admitted to Kata Hospital with major injury.
Six of the injured were identified; Suraj Kant Sahni (36) of Chhattisgarh; Naryani (58), Ved Singh (69) and Om Parkas (62) of Haryana; Santosh (28) and Paras (8) of Banglore.
The journey to the cave shrine, which was disrupted for some hours, later resumed, the ASP said.
