
Chhapra mid-day meal accused headmistress was sentenced to 17 years imprisonment by the court. Saron district and session 2nd court judge, Dipak Anand had announced the sentence today. Minadevi was convicted on Wednesday. The court sentenced her of the Indian Penal Code for 10 years under section 304 and for 7 years under section 308. The court has said that she would have to serve separately. The head teacher has been given the maximum sentence in the two sections.
On 16th July’13, 22 students of Nabasrijit Primary School, Saron district were died after eating the mid-day meal. Some of the students were also became ill. According to the Forensic report, that was due to food poisoning. Thereafter, Minadevi was arrested. According to the investigation, she had supplied the cooking oil from her own store. However, the owner of the shop come Minadevi’s husband, Arjun Roy had been released for lack of evidence. The oil contained orgyanophosphate, according to the inquiry.
