
Body painting is a form of body art painted on the human body and unlike tattoo it is temporary. It is also known as temporary tattoo. The World Body Painting Festival is an annual body painting festival and competition which held in Portchach, Austria. The artists and models do their best to amuse the visitors. The human body has been used as a canvas to portray the best art work of an artist.
 This year Sanatan Dinda got the champion trophy of The World Body Painting festival 2016. He used the inspiration of the Kurdish toddler refugee, Alan Kurdi on his model which got him the best award.
The Body Colour Festival
It is an annual bodypainting festival which is organized in Portchach, Austria and is held in the month of June/July. The artists from 45 nations and more than 30,000 spectators attend this famous festival. WBF was first launched in 1998 in Seeboden, Austria as the European Body Painting Festival to promote summer tourism by the tourism manager Alex Barendregt.
After the body painting movement was got its recognition in 2001 Mr. Barendregt launched the WB Association. When the body painting festival got its international artists and supporters the festival was renamed as “The World Body Painting Festival” in 2004 and in 2011 Mr. Barendregt left his position at the tourist office and moved the festival to Portschach, Austria on Lake Worthersee.
World Bodypainting Festival (WBF) consists of a pre-week (workshops and side events) subsequently 3 days main events and competition.
Welcome to World Bodypainting Festival 2016
This is the 19th edition of the festival started from 27th June and ended on 3rd July . The competition was held for three days with categories like airbrush, brush, sponge and UV rays. Almost 1,500 participants were competing in this three days festival July 1-3 and the participants participated in the World Championship, Special and Amateur competitions. Many artists painted the models inspired by natural and alien like theme. This festival was the combination of exhibitions, competitions and parties.
This year’s theme were “Propaganda- Control of the Public Mind” and “Metamorphosis – The Art of transformation”. In this festival the events were World Championship in body painting, airbrush and special effects, many more awards for artists, make-up artists, and photographers, installation of art, exhibitions, music workshop, fashion shows and many presentations etc.
The art creators painted their creations in the Open Air Art Park “Body Paint City” combined with music. This place is a beautiful peninsula in the middle of picturesque Portschach.
Dozens of artists used nude or nearly nude bodies to express the freedom of artistic expression and body acceptance.
