After the official announcement that Sasikala will become the General Secretary of AIADMK, director Ram Gopal Varma registered his new film’s title as ‘Shashikala’. The story of his movie will apparently deal with the friendship between Sasikala and the late Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa.

Varma told, “Just registered my new film title Shashikala. It’s the story of a very dearest closest friend of a politician and completely fictional.”

The director stated he named his film as “Shashikala” as his film will see Jayalalithaa through the eyes of her close friend.

He tweeted, “Shashikala” is going to be a very very sincere from the heart Tamilan love story and absolutely nothing to with fictional non politics. Fictional non politics of Shasikala have a fundamental contradiction with highly truthful but assumed non truths of Jayalalitha.”

He added he respects Sasikala a little bit more than Jayalalithaa. Varma said the former Tamil Nadu CM respected Sasikala much more than anyone else and that is why “I should call my film “Shasikala”.

He wrote, “Jayalalitha seen through the eyes of Shasikala is much more poetic and honest thought than seeing Jayalalitha only through Jayalalitha, (sic).”

Varma explained it will be the biography of Sasikala’s journey with Amma. He now plans to talk to the people who have known Sasikala over the past four decades.

The story between Jayalalithaa and Sasikala seems to be very interesting. Sasikala, a housewife came into active politics and became the power to guide Jayalalithaa all the time.

It is said that Sasikala built a strong wall around Jayalalithaa separating her from the rest of the world. Even powerful leaders had to take the consent of Sasikala before met with Jayalalithaa.

But at the end, the sweet relation between Jayalalithaa and her soul sister Sasikala became sour and Amma expelled her most trusted aide from her party. She even cut all ties with Sasikala’s family who lived with her at the Poes Garden residence for many years.

The controversial director had made several films based on real life characters and incidents – Not a Love Story, Rakta Charitra, Killing Veerappan, The Attacks of 26/11 and etc.

Currently, Ram Gopal Varma is busy filming the third instalment of the popular crime thriller “Sarkar”. The film features Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj Bajpayee and Yami Gautam in lead roles.
