Earlier, an announcement under âWorldwide Cautionâ sector on the US state departmentâs travel website said that India will continue to experience terrorist activities which may affect US citizens.
The worldwide advisory which last updated in September said, anti-western terrorist groups are very much active in India including Islamic extremist groups like Indian Mujahideen, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Harakat-ul-Mujahideen and Harkat-ul-Jihad-i-Islami. It added that earlier the extremists attacked in the places which are frequent by Westerners such as markets, train, train stations, cinemas and restaurants, luxury and other hotels, mosque and other religious places.
The warning issued at a time when it is a peak travel season in the country. The foreign travel has been begun from October-November. It seems that the alert may severely hit the tourism to India this year.
