
The valley again witnessed blood of jawans as militants killed three army men and one civilian on Thursday. The terrorists ambushed their convoy in Mulu Chitragam village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district and three others were also injured.
According to the police, the incident took place when a joint party of 44 Rashtriya Riffles and Police were returning to their base after conducting a cordon and search operation (CASO). Police further added no was arrested after the cordon and search operation.
A police officer reported, “While returning from Kungnoo, the CASO party was attacked by unknown militants at Mulu Chitragam at about 2 am, resulting in injuries to six army personnel including two officers. Three of them later succumbed to their injuries.”
The civilian, Taja Begum died after she was hit by a stray bullet inside a house during the crossfire.
In the last few weeks, this is the fourth time the army has suffered casualties in Kashmir. Two army men were killed and three others injured in an encounter at Frisal village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on this February 12. Two civilians were also killed in that encounter.
On February 14, four jawans including a major were killed and 11 others including a major and a commander of the 45th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in two different encounters in North Kashmir.
