After A Year Of Waiting Two Indian Professors Abducted By IS In Libya Rescued

After a year of waiting, finally it is a sigh of relieve for the families of two Telegu professors. Last night the two abducted Telegu professors have been rescued in Libya.

T Gopalakrishna is a resident of Tekkali in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh and the other professor Mr. Gopalakrishna’s colleague Mr. Balaram Kishan belongs to Sanigaram village in Karimnagar district in Telangana. They were teaching in Libya’s Sirte University. Last year in 29th July IS militants abducted the two Indian professors while they were on their way to Tripoli airport to return to India.

Union Ministry of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj tweeted, “I am happy to inform that T Gopalakrishna (AP) & C Balaram Kishan (Telangana) who were captive in Libya since 29 July 2015 have been rescued.”

The two families are anxiously waiting for the news and they thanked the government of India and distributed sweets. Now the families are waiting for the official announcement when the two teachers will be returning home.

Gopalakrishna’s mother told media “I heard my son after a year and two months. It was a real turmoil we went through.”

Balaram’s family was happy to hear finally their wait has been over. “We were worried a lot and now are happy that he is safe and are waiting for his return to Hyderabad.”

The two abducted professors were among the four Indians whom IS kidnapped on the same day. The other two Vijay Kumar and Lakhsmikant are from Karnataka were released after some days and safely returned to their houses.

K. Tarakarama Rao, Telangana Minister for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Affairs thanked Sushma Swaraj. He tweeted, “Thanks very much madam.#Respect.”
